Lyrics

Woke up to find that you’re no longer next to me
You know it makes me wonder
Our futures intertwined, I always thought that we
would rule world together
I lay down by your side so easily
There was never any other
All I wanted was for time to freeze
Now I’m O.K. with where we are
The wind has scattered us so far

Oh I never thought I’d let you go
Blame it on the sunshine
Blame it on the sunshine
Oh we change and grow
Blame it on the sunshine
Blame it on the sunshine

The yellow light led me to the busy city streets
I heard you never left the country
The comfort still remains in my memory
Now I’ve had time to figure out
That’s what love is all about

What tomorrow holds we can't know today (there's no way)
When you carved our names in stone they just washed away (with the waves)

Now I’m O.K. with where we are
The wind has scattered us so far
And I’ve had time to figure out
That that’s what love is all about

Lyrics

Crazy as it seems, I still hold the faith
Because it all comes down to you and me
And if we can find a way
Crazy as this may seem
I don’t blame them for anything
I can love my enemy
And pray for a new kind of peace
A new kind of peace

We go in and out of the light
And the reasons change by the day
But I don’t know wrong, I don’t know right I only know how to pray

Some peace, some peace on this earth

Lyrics

Lyrics

I guess I put all of my best dreams into your shoe when you weren't looking
And you just kept right on walking through the mud
Now how can I blame you for not knowing love?
But I'm down on my knees ten thousand miles away praying to hear something you'll never say
I've been living through this love all on my own
Asleep in the bed that I made alone
I might know the bridges that you couldn't cross
I can imagine the places your heart got lost
But none of that matters now you're just not here
You're down in that other hemisphere
I know that nothing was in vain
No breath was wasted on your name
And if I could do it all over you know I would do it the same

Story

I had the privilege of being asked to write a song for an exhibition at the Getty Museum. The drawings are by Federico Zuccero, a 16th century Italian artist; and they chronicle his brother, Taddeo's life as an artist. Taddeo's struggles and triumphs are so familiar. This story reminds me of how we are all just trying to find our path. There was one drawing of Taddeo sitting in a windowsill and drawing by the light of the moon that really resonated with me. It was during his apprenticeship with a famous artist who was mistreating him, starving him, and not giving him any lamp oil to see by at night. His passion for art compelled him to do whatever it took to create...

Lyrics

Y si lloro, quien me va a escuchar?
Siento tan solo
Eso nunca va a cambiar
Pero digame lo que quieres
Yo puedo trabajar
Toda la vida yo voy a trabajar la la la la...
Mi madre nunca, nunca, nunca me toco Y mi padre solo, solo se salio
Pero digame... Hasta que muero...

Lyrics

In a little while I'll get down
Gonna have a hard time back on the ground
Been around the world a time or three
Nothing compares to my banyan tree, banyan tree
Cause in the night I can see stars through the branches
In the night I can see stars through the branches
And I can see the cars far down below
They're going so fast but they move so slow
And no one looks up at me Just straight ahead
Places to go and they're not there yet, not there yet
La da la la la la da la, la la la la da la la la la la, la da la
Tiny little leaves on such a big tree
They stand together and they shelter me
And there are limbs I haven't explored
I might have to stay here one season more, one season more
